Tidio alternatives for WordPress and WooCommerce
People usually start looking for a Tidio alternative for one of three reasons: the bill grew faster than the business, the AI allowance ran out mid-month, or they realised they were paying for a chat tool and an email tool that do not know about each other. This page covers the credible options, including the ones that are better than PixelChat for particular situations.
First: should you actually leave?
Tidio is a well-built product with a long track record and strong review scores. Stay if your support runs through Facebook Messenger and Instagram, if your team depends on the mobile operator apps, if you are on Shopify, or if the visual Flows builder is doing real work for you. Switching costs are real and none of the alternatives below beat Tidio on all four of those.
The shortlist
PixelChat — chat and email marketing in one platform
Best for WooCommerce stores that want the AI chatbot, the operator inbox, the contact database and the email campaigns to be the same system. The WordPress plugin installs the widget, syncs products into the AI's knowledge base and emits the cart events that drive abandoned-cart email. Flat per-tenant pricing rather than metered conversations.
Not for you if: you are on Shopify, you need Messenger and Instagram in the inbox, you need native mobile operator apps, or you need a drag-and-drop automation canvas today.
Crisp
A well-regarded shared-inbox and chat product with a genuinely generous free tier — a website widget, a shared inbox and two seats at no cost. Crisp bills a flat rate per workspace with a bundle of seats included, rather than charging per conversation, which makes it unusually predictable. It does not give you an email marketing engine, so the two-tool problem stays.
Intercom
The heavyweight. Far deeper on ticketing, help centre and product-led onboarding messaging than either Tidio or PixelChat. Its entry seat price is not the barrier people assume; the thing to model is the combination of per-seat pricing with per-resolution charging for its Fin AI agent, which scales with how well the AI works rather than with your team size. Built for software companies rather than for shops, and it is not WordPress-native.
LiveChat / HelpDesk
A mature live chat product billed per person, with a marketplace advertising 200+ integrations. Sensible when human chat is the point and AI is secondary. Again, no email marketing engine.
Stay on Tidio
Genuinely the right answer for Shopify stores, for teams living in Meta's social channels, and for anyone whose Flows are load-bearing. Cost pressure alone is not a good enough reason to migrate a working support system.
Why there are no prices on this page
Every vendor here changes pricing without notice, and several meter different units — seats, conversations, resolutions, contacts. Any table we published would be wrong within months. Compare the live plan pages, and compare on the unit you actually consume.
How to choose in one question
| If your real problem is… | Look at |
|---|---|
| Paying for chat and email separately | PixelChat |
| AI allowance running out mid-month | PixelChat |
| Per-seat cost as the team grows | PixelChat or Crisp |
| Support depth: tickets, SLAs, help centre | Intercom or LiveChat/HelpDesk |
| Shopify-specific commerce features | Stay on Tidio |
| Instagram and Messenger volume | Stay on Tidio |
What migrating off Tidio involves
- Export your contacts from Tidio while the account is still active — do this first, not last. Budget time for transcripts separately: Tidio's documented export is one transcript at a time from the conversation panel, with no bulk download, so decide early whether you need all of them or only a sample.
- Move your FAQ content into the new tool's knowledge base.
- Install the new widget alongside the Tidio one and test on a low-traffic page.
- Rebuild your busiest flow. If you cannot rebuild it, that is your answer about whether to migrate.
- Remove the Tidio script, then cancel.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the closest free Tidio alternative?
- Free tiers exist across most of this category but they are lead magnets — expect vendor branding on the widget and hard caps on AI conversations. If chat matters to your revenue, budget for a paid tier.
- Which Tidio alternative works best with WooCommerce?
- We build PixelChat, so treat this as an interested opinion: a product with a first-party WordPress plugin will always integrate more deeply than one talking to the WooCommerce REST API from outside. Verify the depth of any WooCommerce integration before committing.
- Can I keep my chat history when I move?
- Export what you need from Tidio before you cancel, and start early — its documented transcript export runs one conversation at a time rather than as a bulk job. Most platforms, PixelChat included, import contacts cleanly but do not import another vendor's conversation threads.
- Is PixelChat cheaper than Tidio?
- It depends on your volumes and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise. PixelChat's flat per-tenant fee tends to win once you are also paying for a separate email marketing tool, or once metered AI conversations start driving overage.
