Sync WooCommerce products
Product sync copies your WooCommerce catalogue into the knowledge base as product entries, so the assistant can answer catalogue questions from your data rather than guessing.
Running a sync
- Go to Settings → WooCommerce.
- Trigger a sync, or set the schedule that runs it automatically.
- Review the results in Chatbot → Knowledge, filtered to product entries.
How often
| Catalogue behaviour | Suggested cadence |
|---|---|
| Stable catalogue, prices rarely change | Weekly |
| Regular new products or price changes | Daily |
| Fast-moving or limited stock | Daily, and have the assistant link to the live product page rather than state availability |
These are starting points, not measured optima. Watch what customers actually ask and adjust — if nobody asks about stock, syncing hourly buys you nothing.
Keeping answers accurate
- Delete knowledge base entries for discontinued products. A stale entry is a confidently wrong answer waiting to happen.
- Write product descriptions that answer questions rather than only selling — the assistant can only relay what is written.
- For sizing and compatibility, a single hand-written guide entry usually outperforms a hundred product records.
Do not treat the knowledge base as a live inventory API
It is a snapshot for answering questions. Price and availability commitments belong on the product page, which is always current.
Frequently asked questions
- Do variations sync separately?
- Check the entries created by your first sync before assuming either way — how variable products land depends on how your catalogue is structured.
- Can I exclude products?
- Delete the knowledge base entries for products you do not want the assistant discussing. Re-running a full sync may reintroduce them.
- Does syncing overwrite my hand-written entries?
- Hand-written entries and product entries are separate source types. Product sync updates product entries.
